Kerri Smith serves as the South Carolina Regional President for Self-Help Credit Union, overseeing retail operations and strategic partnerships across the state. With a diverse background, she has contributed her expertise to over 50 credit unions in the United States and six countries.

As a proven, nationally award-winning leader and accomplished marketing and business development professional, Kerri brings a wealth of experience to her role. Before joining Self-Help, she was a sought-after keynote speaker and consultant, specializing in guiding organizations towards growth, innovation, and expanded business horizons. Her collaborative leadership style effectively managed diverse opinions and personalities to meet the needs of key stakeholders.

 

Kerri holds certifications as a Credit Union Financial Counselor and a Credit Union Development Educator, and she is an alumna of Leadership Greenville. Her commitment to community economic development is evident through her work with nearly 25 non-profit organizations in Greenville, all striving to enhance the lives of local citizens. In 2023, Kerri added 'author' to her list of accomplishments, publishing her memoir, "Drive Into Daylight: Navigating Life with Faith and Gratitude."

Born in Panama City, Florida, and raised as a U.S. Coast Guard brat, Kerri's upbringing involved four different duty stations and attending 12 schools by the 10th grade. This rich cultural experience laid the foundation for her life's work.

Married for 40 years to A.J. Smith, the love of her life, Kerri is a proud mother and grandmother. In her free time, she actively contributes to her community by organizing car shows that raise funds for local charities, including Fountain Inn High School, Prisma Children’s Hospital, American Cancer Society, Pendleton Place, and others. Kerri is also an avid reader and quilter, showcasing her commitment to both personal interests and community well-being.
